
Ciprofloxacin 250mg Film Coated Tablet (Ciprobac) by 30's
Antibacterial
INDICATIONS
For the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, chronic prostatitis, gonorrhea, lower respiratory tract infections (including pseudomonas infections in cystic fibrosis, but excluding infections due to streptococcus pneumoniae such as pneumococcal pneumonia), and surgical prophylaxis.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Usual oral dose: Adult - 250mg to 750mg twice daily depending on the severity and nature of the infection.
Acute uncomplicated cystitis in women: 100 to 250 mg twice daily
Chronic bacterial prostatitis: 500mg twice daily
Bone and joint infection: 500 to 750 mg twice daily
Gonorrhea: 250 or 500 mg once daily (single dose)
Surgical infection prophylaxis: 750 mg single dose given 1 to 1½ hours before the procedure
Meningococcal meningitis prophylaxis: 500 mg once daily (single dose)
Complicated urinary tract infection: 500 to 750 mg twice daily, or as prescribed by a physician.
PRECAUTIONS:
Due to the absence of specific data documenting its safety, Ciprofloxacin is not recommended for pregnant and lactating women unless the potential benefits outweigh the possible risks. Ciprofloxacin should be used with caution in patients with epilepsy or a history of CNS disorders, renal impairment, G6PD deficiency, and myasthenia gravis. Adequate fluid intake should be maintained during treatment.
